>Cambodia PM says border row getting worse

>Samak (R) talks to Hun Sen during his visit to Cambodia on 3rd March, 2008.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said a border dispute with Thailand was “worsening” and called for the immediate withdrawal of Thai troops and protesters from the area.

In a letter to Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, Hun Sen said the three-day stand-off at the disputed Preah Vihear temple was “very bad for relations between our two countries.”

Meanwhile, villagers living close to the Thai-Cambodian border where a military standoff has entered its third day have fled their homes in droves.

Fearful of the more than 400 Thai and 800 Cambodian troops stationed at their door, 70 percent have now left for their safety, military officials said.
